# Proactive Driver Verification: Confirm Drivers Before They Hit the Road

Proactive Driver Verification is a powerful tool within your Trucker Tools Load Tracking portal that helps brokers vet drivers **before** assigning them to a load. With this feature, you can confirm a driver’s location and tracking readiness in advance.

Traditionally, tracking begins only after a load is booked and a Load Track is created. Proactive Driver Verification introduces a “pre-track” step, giving you the chance to double-check drivers and get a location ping before the full load track goes live.

### Why is Proactive Driver Verification important

This feature is especially valuable when you’re working with new carriers or moving high-value freight. Here’s how it helps you:

- **Verify Driver Location**  
  - Confirm that the driver is exactly where they say they are.  
  - Reduce the risk of missed pickups by avoiding drivers who are hours away from the scheduled location.
- **Confirm Tracking Readiness**  
  - Make sure the driver is willing and able to share their location.  
  - Ensure you have accurate tracking details before assigning a Load Track.
- **Catch Fraud Early**  
  - Built-in fraud detection alerts you to suspicious behavior, such as location spoofing through VPNs.  
  - Helps protect sensitive or high-value freight, like electronics, from theft risks.
- **Validate Carrier Identity**  
  - Drivers can upload a photo or document, such as the side of their truck, giving you visual confirmation that they belong to the correct carrier.  
  - Adds another layer of security and trust when onboarding new carriers.

### How it works

Using Proactive Driver Verification is quick and straightforward:

1. **Create a Pre-Track**– Within the Load Track portal, click your **company name** in the top right and select **Proactive Driver Verification**.

2. **Enter Load Details**– Input the load number and the driver’s phone number.

3. **Send an SMS Request**– Trigger a text message to the driver asking for:  
   - A one-time location ping, or  
   - A location ping plus a photo upload (e.g., side of the truck for visual carrier confirmation).  
     
4. **Driver Responds** – The driver clicks the link in the SMS, selects “allow,” and shares their current location.
5. **View Results**– You instantly see the driver’s location in your portal, along with any fraud alerts if suspicious activity is detected.

Currently, Proactive Driver Verification supports SMS-based location requests, photo uploads, and full fraud alerts.

### Accessing Proactive Driver Verification

This feature is available exclusively in the Load Track portal. End points are also now available for integration with TMS providers.
