Consistent Tracking Guide
1 minute to read
WHAT MAKES A TRACK CONSISTENT?
- When there is a successful GPS ping in each of the geofences for the load.
- When there is at least 1 successful GPS ping every hour
- When there is at least 1 successful GPS ping every 60 miles
COMMON CAUSES FOR AN INCONSISTENT TRACK:
- If the driver turns their phone off during off hours rather than pausing the load track.
- If the driver doesn't start tracking the load until after the load is picked up.
- If the driver doesn't have their location settings on their phone set to always allow.
BEST PRACTICES FOR ENSURING CONSISTENT TRACKING
- Create an automated text message for drivers to have their location settings on “always allow” (ex: Consistent tracking is required for this shipment. Change your location settings on your phone to always allow.)
- Make sure that the driver starts the load track BEFORE arriving at the pickup location to ensure a ping happens in the first geofence.
- Make sure a driver knows that they can pause the track instead of turning their phone off when they are on off hours.
- Communicate with the carrier’s dispatcher at the point of booking the load that consistent tracking is required. Phone must be on, app downloaded, and location settings set correctly.
- Consider integrating more carriers for ELD tracking with Trucker Tools.
