Team Driver Support FAQs

Can two drivers track at the same time?
Yes. This is the fundamental purpose of Team Driver Support. Each driver will receive a text message with a link to start the track. Drivers can track the same load at the same time.
Will my TMS automatically send each driver’s information?
This is a new feature of Load Tracking and it will require each of our TMS providers to update their integration with Trucker Tools to map the “Driver Two” field to send to Trucker Tools. We are working with TMS providers to do this but you requesting this from your TMS will help expedite this process.
How do I add a second driver?
This will need to be added directly in the Trucker Tools Load Tracking portal. If your TMS already has a field for driver two then the TMS will need to update their integration mapping with us. Click HERE for step-by-step instructions.
Can I designate a certain device for different locations or legs of the load?
This typically comes up in reference to having separate drivers for pickup and delivery locations. At this time, Team Driver Support will track all devices at the same time instead of designating one device for a particular part of the shipment. If you wanted a pickup driver to track differently from the delivery then communicate to each driver when to start tracking on the app.
Does this work with ELD tracking?
No. Team Driver Support is only possible with app tracking at this time. Tracking a driver by their ELD is still primarily with a truck or trailer number, or asset ID.
Will my TMS automatically receive both location updates from each device?
Yes. Trucker Tools will send tracking updates and statuses for each device to the TMS using the existing integration that you have. Some TMS providers will display the phone number of each device receiving statuses. Others will not. Regardless, all status updates will appear in the TMS and be visible in the Load Tracking portal.
What if one device stops tracking?
The device that is currently tracking on a load is not dependent on the other device. In other words, if one device stops tracking then the other device will not be affected.
What is the main use case for Team Driver Support?
Team loads. Previously, in order to track a team load, you would need to edit the phone number for each driver or be stuck only tracking one device. Now that tracking multiple devices on a single shipment is possible, tracking your team loads by entering both phone numbers is a way to ensure your team load is actually moving with two or more drivers instead of just one.
