# Welcome to CarrierWatchTM

**First visit to CarrierWatch?**  
You might find it useful to take a look at the CarrierWatch User Guide and view the tutorials, available on the Resources tab of this website.

**Have you set up your Account?**  
You must go to the Account Settings tab and set up your account BEFORE using CarrierWatch.

# Watchlist Page

This page helps you to manage the list of carriers that are being monitored on your behalf. The information on this page is visible to, and may be used by, any person logged in under your account.

**Watchlist Size**  
You can monitor an unlimited number of carriers at the basic level. If you have a premium subscription, you can also monitor a limited number of carriers at the premium level (insurance). At the top of the page, you can see how many premium slots are being used and how many are still available.

If you need more premium slots, you can:

- Call us to upgrade your subscription
- Remove some carriers from your watchlist
- Downgrade some carriers to basic monitoring only. (Hybrid Watch lists only)

You can perform a variety of activities from this page:

1. To upload a list of carriers to be monitored, click Upload Carrier List
2. To download information about your carriers, click Download Watchlist
3. To list all of the carriers on your watch list, click Search
4. To find a specific carrier, or carriers enter the parameters in the boxes provided and click Search
5. To see the next page of 100 carriers click Next
6. To see the previous page of 100 carriers click Prev
7. To remove one or more carriers from your watch list, check the boxes at the beginning of each row and click Remove Selected Carriers. By clicking in the box in the header row your can check or uncheck all of the rows on the page.
8. To see detailed information about a specific carrier, click on their name.
9. To see their authority click on the docket number.

**Note:** If your TMS is integrated with CarrierWatch by way of an automatic upload and download, you will not be able to add or remove carriers via this web site.

# Search Registry Page

To find a specific carrier, use the Quick Search function at the top of any page.

1. Select the identifier you want to use: MC#, DOT#, Intrastate#, Phone or FAX
2. Enter the appropriate number (enter just the numeric portion, do not enter prefix or state)
3. Click Go

Use the search form on this page to find carriers that fit into more general criteria. Simply enter your criteria and click Search. You can mix and match as many criteria as you like.

1. To search by name, enter the first few characters of the name in the box provided
2. To search by location enter a city and/or state. If you do not enter a radius, CarrierWatch will look for an exact match to the city name
3. To search for carriers in multiple states, hold the control key down while selecting the states from the drop down
4. You can further limit the results by specifying a minimum safety rating, a minimum amount of cargo insurance coverage and a minimum number of power units
5. To search for carriers with particular equipment, use ctrl+click to select one or more equipment class
6. To search for carriers by type of freight, click in one or more of the commodity boxes
7. To search for carriers which operate in particular states, use ctrl+click to select one or more operating states. Or click a zone to select all operating states in that zone automatically.

Results for items selected for criteria 5, 6 and 7 above will only include carriers whom have reported data to DAT about their equipment, commodities hauled and operating states. Choosing more than one item from these lists will return carriers which match any of the values selected. If items are selected from more than one of the filters for equipment classes, commodities and/or operating states, carriers must match at least one value in each list to be returned in the results.

CarrierWatch will provide up to a **maximum of 500 results** that fit your criteria.

# Search Results Page

CarrierWatch will provide up to 500 results to any search. If you receive more than 500 results you may want to go back and refine your search parameters. Any carriers that are already on your watch list will be displayed with an icon resembling a pair of binoculars.

To get a printed copy of the search results list, click Print Results.

To see the details for a company, click on the entry in the list on the left.

Actions available from the Preview Pane

01. Add/remove the carrier from your watchlist  
02. Print a time-stamped copy of the details for you records  
03. Save a time-stamped copy of the details in PDF format for your records  
04. Display the selected carrier in full page mode (Warning: Some browsers will not let you come back to the search results page if you do this)  
05. Click on the docket number to see this carriers information in the FMCSA Licensing and Insurance web site (opens a new browser window or tab)  
06. Click on the DOT number to visit this carrier's entry on the safer website  
07. Click the watchdog link to see if there are any reports on this carrier  
08. Click on the ISS Recommendations to see whether or not this carrier is recommended for a compliance review  
09. Click on the certificate icon, to see the carrier's insurance certificate  
10. Click on the AM Best icon to check out the carriers insurance underwriter

# Company Detail Page

This page shows all of the information that we have on this company. To jump to a specific section, use the navigation pane on the left. A color indicator may be displayed for the carrier.  
To change these settings, visit the Qualification Settings tab under Account Settings:

- Yellow (Caution): The carrier's data matches your settings for caution.
- Red (Warning): The carrier's data matches your settings for warning.

An explanation of the issues will appear at the top of the page. You will also find a colored circle in the navigation pane for any section that contains a problem.

For advice on what to look for when validating a new carrier and a full definition of the color coding, please refer to the CarrierWatch Users Guide or watch the tutorials provided on the resources page.

You can perform a number of activities from this page:

01. To add or remove the carrier from your watchlist, click the appropriate link at the top of the page  
02. If the carrier is on your watchlist, you can add personal notes about this carrier and associate them with a specific vendor ID in your TMS. To do this click the link entitled that appears right below the issues bar Edit Vendor ID and Notes  
03. You can print a time-stamped copy of the carrier details, or save it in PDF format by clicking the appropriate link at the top of the page  
04. You can take a look at this carrier's information in the FMCSA Licensing and Insurance web site by clicking on the Docket number in the general information section  
05. You can visit this carrier's entry on the safer website by clicking the DOT number, again in the general information section  
06. If you have a TIA Watchdog account (see Account Settings) you can click the Watchdog link next to the carrier's name, to see if there are any reports on this carrier  
07. To perform further research on this carrier, click on the Alias Search link. This will find other companies that may be related. For example, this search will find other docket numbers (broker or carrier) operating out of this location or using the same telephone or fax number.
08. Click on the ISS Recommendations link to see whether or not this carrier is recommended for a compliance review  
09. Premium subscribers can view the carrier's insurance certificate, by clicking on the certificate icon, in the Insurance section.
10. You can also check out the carrier's insurance underwriter by clicking on the AM Best icon. In order to do this you will need to register with A.M. Best. Registration is free.

# Alias Search Results Page

The alias search looks for any company that:

- Is or has ever operated out of the same address as the target company
- Is using or has ever used the same phone number or fax number as the target company
- Has a similar name to the target company
- Is in a location very close to the target company

This search is useful for finding an attached brokerage that is operating under a separate MC number, or previous re-incarnations of a carrier that previously operated under a different MC number.

Information about the target company is displayed at the top of the page for your reference.

To get a printed copy of the search results list, click the Print Results link provided. To see the details for a company, click on the entry in the list on the left.

# Request a Company Page

You do not need to use this form unless you are unable to find the specific carrier that you are looking for.

**What happens when you fill out this form and click Submit?**  
CarrierWatch will send the information to the CarrierWatch support team. They will research the carrier and if necessary create a new record in the database.

If you click the "Loading Today?" option, a member of the support team will pick up the phone immediately and attempt to procure proof of insurance in the form of a certified certificate of insurance from the producer. It is important to give us your name and phone number so that we can contact you in the event of an issue.

# Account Settings Page

Remember to click Save when you have completed all of your changes.

**Email addresses**

1. To enter an email address, type in the box provided and click Add.
2. Email address will not be saved to your account until you click Save
3. You must have at least one email address for emergency notification purposes even if you have switched off all of the notification options
4. If you click Test Email, CarrierWatch will send an email to all email addresses already saved for your account

**Notifications**

1. Notifications will be sent to all addresses listed for your account
2. To receive notifications about a specific event, put a check mark in the appropriate box and click Save

**Monitoring Level**  
This setting is only available to users with a premium subscription. Definitions are:

| **Basic Only** | All carriers in your watchlist are monitored for changes to authority, safety and DOT insurance |
| **Premium Only** | All carriers in your watchlist are monitored for changes to authority, safety, DOT insurance and their insurance policy. You will be able to view/print the insurance certificate for any carrier on your list |
| **Hybrid**(Premium and Basic) | You choose the level of monitoring you want on a carrier by carrier basis. You will be able to view/print the insurance certificate for any carrier on your list monitored at premium level |

**Qualification Settings**  
Use this page to set which warning levels are shown on the watchlist page and carrier profiles.

The setting labeled "Is not legal to haul loads" cannot be modified. Interstate carriers lacking an active DOT number and/or active authority will always be marked as Red (Warning). For other carriers:

| **OK** indicates that no indicator will be shown |
| **Caution** indicates that a yellow indicator will be shown |
| **Warning** indicates that a red indicator will be shown |

If a carrier has no yellow or red warnings, no indication is made on the watchlist page or the carrier profile. If a carrier has yellow but no red warnings, a yellow indicator appears. If the carrier has any red warnings, a red indicator appears.

Use the dropdowns to set which indicator, if any, is displayed for each specific data point.

Click Save to save your changes

**Watchdog**

If you have a TIA Watchdog account, enter your login ID and password here and you will be able to see carrier reports directly from that system
